Can’t Believe I’m Saying This’ – Tiger Woods Shocks Fans with Epic April Fool’s Joke

Tiger Woods sent the internet into a frenzy with an April Fool’s joke about competing in the 2025 Masters.

The 15-time major champion recently underwent surgery in March to repair a ruptured Achilles, an injury that generally takes four to six months to heal. Given that Woods is 49 years old, his return to professional golf is expected to take even longer, making his participation in any of this year’s major tournaments unlikely.

Woods announced he would be competing in the 2025 Masters - but all was not as it seemed

However, for a brief five-minute window, Woods had golf fans believing he had made a miraculous recovery.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Woods posted: “I can’t believe I am saying this, but a few weeks after rupturing my left Achilles, the sleeping in a hyperbaric chamber plus the explosive lifts my doctors and trainers have me ready to play the Masters next week! Can’t wait! See y’all on the course.”

At first, the announcement sparked excitement and confusion, but those paying closer attention quickly realized the timing—April 1.

The official Masters tournament field had already been announced earlier that day, and Woods’ name was notably absent. Soon after, Woods revealed the prank, posting: “P.S. April Fools my Achilles is still a mess :).”

This isn’t the first time Woods’ social media activity has taken fans by surprise. Just over a week ago, he made headlines by announcing a romantic relationship with Vanessa Trump.

Woods posted the announcement alongside two pictures of him and Vanessa

In the post, he wrote: “Love is in the air and life is better with you by my side! We look forward to our journey through life together. At this time we would appreciate privacy for all those close to our hearts.”

The announcement shocked many, as Woods rarely shares personal sentiments online. Adding to the confusion, he never directly named Vanessa Trump in the post, seemingly assuming golf fans would recognize her as the former wife of Donald Trump Jr.

Some found the public request for privacy ironic, as no one had been speculating about the relationship beforehand.

With these unexpected social media moments, Woods appears to be entering what some are calling his “Weird Dad” phase—and fans are absolutely here for it.

While his April Fool’s joke may have won the day, he wasn’t the only one attempting to fool sports fans. Elsewhere, talkSPORT’s Jamie O’Hara and Jason Cundy reacted to a fabricated story suggesting newly promoted Premier League teams would receive a three-point head start next season.
