UAE Set to Host Back-to-Back HotelPlanner Tour Events in April
The UAE’s golf season is far from over as the HotelPlanner Tour (formerly Challenge Tour) gears up for two high-profile tournaments next month. Following an action-packed run of DP World Tour events in the region, rising stars will now take center stage in Ajman and Abu Dhabi.
Al Zorah Golf & Yacht Club Set for HotelPlanner Tour Debut
The UAE Challenge will be the first of the two events, teeing off from April 10-13 at Al Zorah Golf & Yacht Club in Ajman. Designed by Nicklaus Design, the course is set within a breathtaking protected mangrove ecosystem, offering a visually stunning yet demanding test for players. This marks the first time Al Zorah will host a HotelPlanner Tour event.
Abu Dhabi Challenge Returns to Al Ain
The Tour will then move to Abu Dhabi for the Abu Dhabi Challenge, taking place April 17-20 at Al Ain Equestrian, Shooting & Golf Club. Known for its challenging layout, the course has earned a reputation as a fair but demanding venue that will push competitors to their limits.
A Crucial Step for Future DP World Tour Players
HotelPlanner Tour Director Jamie Hodges emphasized the importance of these events in shaping future stars:
> “The UAE has long been a key destination for developing golf talent. With the addition of Al Zorah to the schedule, we continue to showcase some of the region’s most stunning and challenging courses. Both tournaments provide a vital platform for rising stars striving to progress to the DP World Tour.”
With 30 spots allocated to the Emirates Golf Federation (EGF) across the two tournaments, UAE-based players will have a golden opportunity to test their skills against an elite international field. The EGF is also leveraging its partnerships to exchange spots, giving UAE players valuable playing opportunities in HotelPlanner Tour events worldwide.
EGF Vice Chairman General Abdullah Alhashmi reinforced the federation’s commitment to growing the sport:
> “Developing UAE-based golfers and providing them with pathways to compete at the highest level is a key focus for us. These tournaments present an incredible opportunity for our players to gain exposure and experience against top international competition, right here on home soil.”
Both events are expected to feature strong fields, with players battling for crucial ranking points and a chance to break into the DP World Tour. Fans in the UAE can look forward to an exciting showcase of golf’s next generation in April.
