Tommy Fleetwood expressed satisfaction with his form as he continues his pursuit of a first PGA Tour title, acknowledging that he “cannot complain” despite still waiting for that maiden victory. The English golfer has already secured seven wins on the DP World Tour, with his most recent triumph coming at the Dubai Invitational in January 2024. However, his closest call on the PGA Tour was at the 2023 Canadian Open, where he lost in a playoff to Nick Taylor.
Fleetwood’s consistency has been impressive, with three consecutive top-15 finishes on the PGA Tour. He tied for 14th at the recent Players Championship, following a share of fifth at the Genesis Invitational and a joint-11th finish at the Arnold Palmer Invitational.
Ahead of the Valspar Championship at Innisbrook Resort in Florida, Fleetwood reflected on his game, noting that while his consistency has been strong, he still needs to fine-tune his scoring to position himself in contention for a win. He plans to continue pushing his game forward and patiently wait for the right opportunity.
He also shared his excitement for the Valspar Championship, describing the course as one he enjoys, emphasizing the importance of ball control and positioning. He believes that dominating the course with sheer length is not possible, and players need to be patient to navigate its demanding shots.
Fleetwood’s form comes shortly after his team, the Los Angeles Golf Club, was eliminated in the semi-finals of the TGL event by Schauffele’s New York Golf Club, despite going unbeaten in the regular season. Fleetwood discussed the competitive nature of the event, noting that the team had put in significant preparation. Despite the loss, he highlighted the excitement and nerves of competing in such a new format.
