Rugby stars and rising talents light up Coral Coast 7s

The 2025 Fiji Coral Coast 7s is set to offer an extraordinary rugby experience, bringing together elite international teams, rising stars, and local players for three days of thrilling competition.

 

This year’s tournament will feature a strong lineup of national sevens teams. Among the participants are two New Zealand men’s teams, the New Zealand women’s team, the Australian men’s team, the Samoan men’s team, and the Fiji men’s and women’s teams, promising a showcase of top-tier rugby.

 

For local rugby clubs, the event is a unique chance to compete against some of the best players in the sport. It offers an invaluable platform to test their skills and gain experience on a larger stage.

 

Adding to the excitement, the Fijian Drua Super Rugby team will also take part in the tournament as part of their preseason preparations for the 2025 Super Rugby campaign. Their participation adds another layer of intensity and intrigue to the event.

 

The youth division continues to be a critical element of the Coral Coast 7s, acting as a launchpad for discovering the sport’s future stars. This year, the Japan Under-18 team returns, bringing their trademark precision and technical skills to the competition. Additionally, Nauru’s youth team will make its debut in the tournament, marking an important step in the island nation’s efforts to grow its rugby program.

 

The youth category also welcomes Sacramento Kaji Rugby, an international team led by Rob Kauvesi, a former Fiji 7s manager and strategist behind the team’s gold medal success at the Rio Olympics. Their presence adds even more international diversity and expertise to the competition.

 

Fans will have the rare opportunity to watch rugby legends such as Jerry Tuwai and Rosko Specman in action. They can also cheer for the Fijian Drua and witness the emergence of promising talent that could shape the future of rugby.

 

The tournament will commence this Thursday at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka, promising an unforgettable celebration of rugby excellence.
