Raducanu rejects treatment

A prominent British tennis player decided to forgo treatment for an insect bite ahead of the Australian Open due to fears of ingesting a potentially contaminated substance. This concern stemmed from heightened awareness of doping issues following recent high-profile cases. Last year, the tennis world was shaken when a leading male player, ranked number one globally at the time, tested positive for clostebol, a banned substance. Despite this, the player was not suspended after an independent tribunal determined there were mitigating circumstances surrounding the case. These developments have contributed to increased caution among athletes, prompting some to make decisions aimed at avoiding even the slightest risk of unintentional doping violations.
