Jim Harbaugh Announces Justin Herbert’s ‘Perfect’ Record to Equal Joe Burrow and Tom Brady’s Feat After Chargers’ Win

The Los Angeles Chargers advanced to a 5-3 record with their recent 27-10 win over the Cleveland Browns, a victory that left head coach Jim Harbaugh particularly pleased. Harbaugh took the opportunity to praise quarterback Justin Herbert, noting that Herbert joined an elite class by finishing the first half with a perfect passer rating of 158.3. Harbaugh highlighted Herbert’s achievement alongside notable performances by Joe Burrow and Tom Brady, who have also managed perfect passer ratings in a half.

Journalist Alex Insdorf reported Harbaugh’s comments, with additional context from Ari Meirov, who pointed out that Burrow reached a perfect passer rating two years ago by completing 19 of 21 passes for 325 yards and three touchdowns in the first half. Brady has achieved this feat three times over his NFL career. Herbert followed up his perfect half by totaling 282 yards and two touchdowns in the game, making him the second quarterback in Chargers history, after Philip Rivers, to achieve a perfect passer rating in a half.

This accomplishment marks a significant milestone in Herbert’s career, highlighting his consistency and skill. Over the past four games, Herbert has posted QBRs of 92.4, 97.1, 111.3, and 125.8, throwing for a total of 1,148 yards, five touchdowns, and no interceptions. This consistency has fueled discussions comparing him to other elite quarterbacks like Burrow and Brady.

Another noteworthy player in the conversation is Lamar Jackson, who recently achieved a perfect passer rating for the fourth time in his career during a game against the Denver Broncos. Jackson completed 16 of 19 passes for 280 yards and three touchdowns, an effort that puts him in rare company. He previously recorded perfect passer ratings twice in 2019 and once in 2023, giving him the most perfect passer ratings in NFL history, surpassing Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, Kurt Warner, and Ben Roethlisberger, who each reached three.

Jackson’s impressive consistency highlights his underrated skill and positions him alongside top NFL quarte

rbacks.
