The Fiji Water Flying Fijians struggled with discipline and game organization in their 57-17 loss against Scotland at Murrayfield this morning.
Fiji’s problems began early, as they were down to 13 players in the opening 14 minutes after Frank Lomani and Apisalome Vota were given yellow cards.
Scotland soon jumped out to a 26-0 lead by scoring four tries through Kyle Rowe, Darcy Graham, and Huw Jones.
Fiji’s first try was scored by Isaiah Armstrong-Ravula, but Scotland extended their advantage to 29-5 with a penalty kick. Scotland was still comfortably up at 29-10 when Ratu Meli Derenalagi crossed over for Fiji’s second try just before halftime.
Captain Tevita Ikanivere of Fiji scored the first try of the second half, but Scotland swiftly put an end to any potential comeback with four more scores from Graham, Duhan van der Merwe, and Jones. Graham won Player of the Match after scoring an outstanding four tries.
The Flying Fijians will now focus on their upcoming matchup at the Millennium Stadium on Sunday versus Wales.
