’No-one likes this boy’: Tim Sherwood says ‘tremendous’ Tottenham player is hugely unlikeable

Richarlison is a changed man and a changed player under Ange Postecoglou after his early struggles at Tottenham Hotspur.

Before the 26-year-old joined Tottenham, the club’s record transfer was Tanguy Ndombele, and as everyone has seen, that proved to be a disaster signing of the highest order.

When Richarlison was struggling last season, the fear would have been that he was going to head down a similar road, but it’s a different story altogether now.

Tim Sherwood thinks he is someone ‘no-one likes’ apart from his own fan base and teammates, as he told Premier League Productions (03/02/24 at 12:05 pm).

The former Tottenham boss felt that Richarlison ‘looks like a £50 million striker in a Brazil shirt’, but that is now transcending itself on the domestic stage.

After 20 Premier League games this season, the versatile forward has ten goals to his name, after only netting once throughout the previous campaign.

Richarlison improving at Tottenham

“He does in a Brazil shirt, doesn’t he,” said Sherwood about Richarlison looking like a £50 million striker. “He is a tremendous player in a Brazil shirt. We were just waiting to see it.

“He is one of them players who everyone hates unless he is in your team. No-one likes this boy and that’s the biggest compliment I can give him. His teammates do and so do those Tottenham fans, but if he isn’t in your colours, then you don’t like him.”

Richarlison stepping up without Heung-min Son

Ange Postecoglou will be annoyed at his team conceding yet another late goal, and that from a corner with Guglielmo Vicario coming under fire again.

But from Richarlison’s own selfish perspective, he did his job and scored two brilliant goals against his former side.

With Son Heung-min away on international duty at the Asian Cup, it’s their rejuvenated star who has stepped up and produced the goods.

That’s a very good sign for Spurs because it further proves that they can spread the goals, it’s just a case of others now joining in.
