Report: Spurs decide on a major transfer as three midfielder deals fall through

According to Football Insider, Tottenham Hotspur has given up on their three main targets for the midfield position and has instead chosen not to buy a player during the current transfer window.

According to the source, despite Newcastle’s attempts to sabotage the transfer, Spurs are still in negotiations with Club Brugge on a deal for Antonio Nusa and are anticipated to reach an agreement for the winger.

According to Football Insider, Nusa will sign with Tottenham and return to Club Brugge on loan, but the publication also claims that he will be the last player to pass through the door at Tottenham this month.

For Tottenham, three midfielder deals fall through

This can be attributed to Tottenham’s decision to abandon their pursuit of signing all three of the midfield players who were on their wishlist.

Conor Gallagher was reportedly Spurs’ top target, but the 23-year-old is now anticipated to stay at Stamford Bridge, meaning the Lilywhites will probably postpone their pursuit until the following summer.

The club reportedly decided that Ederson of Atalanta and Kalvin Phillips of Manchester City were “too expensive,” and Ange Postecoglou’s team has given up on trying to sign either player.

It appears that finding a buyer for Hojbjerg is also going to be difficult, which may be one of the reasons Spurs have decided to wait until the summer of 2019 to pursue a midfield player.

Postecoglou has more than enough alternatives to get about the middle of the park till the end of the season now that Maddison is fully recovered.
