Chance to represent Fiji after 10 years

After a decade of dedication, a significant breakthrough has arrived for Jekesoni Koroi, who has secured a spot in Fiji’s AFL Men’s national team. At 27, Koroi has spent ten years striving for this opportunity, never previously having had the chance to represent his country on an international platform. Known for his persistence, Koroi was named as part of the squad that will compete in Australia’s Pacific Cup later in November.

Throughout past seasons, Koroi made it only as far as Fiji’s extended squad. He recalls being selected for the extended team in 2019, but his hopes of playing internationally were dashed when the pandemic disrupted sporting events. Now, he celebrates the realization of his long-term ambition, noting his happiness and appreciation for the opportunity to finally represent Fiji. Koroi credits his selection to divine guidance and is committed to giving his all in the tournament.

The Pacific Cup tournament, where Koroi and his teammates will represent Fiji, is scheduled to begin in Australia on November 14.
