Colorado football honored during halftime of men’s basketball game as Deion Sanders led team goes to Alamo Bowl ft. Travis Hunter

The Colorado Buffaloes, led by Deion Sanders, have had their most successful football season since 2016, achieving a 10-4 record. While the team missed qualifying for the College Football Playoff or the Big 12 Championship Game, they still have a chance to end the season on a high note. A victory in their upcoming Alamo Bowl matchup against BYU would mark Colorado’s first postseason win since 2004.

Historic Season for Colorado Football

This season has already earned a place in Colorado’s history books. The team’s current success rivals their 1994 season when Rashaan Salaam won the Heisman Trophy, and the Buffaloes went 11-1, including a Fiesta Bowl victory. The 2024 season was further highlighted by Travis Hunter’s Heisman Trophy win, making him only the second player in school history to receive the prestigious award.

To commemorate these achievements, Colorado has held various celebrations on campus in Boulder. One such event took place during halftime of a basketball game against Bellarmine, where Colorado won 79-55. Players from the basketball team were seen posing with the Heisman Trophy, adding to the festive atmosphere.

Deion Sanders on Travis Hunter’s NFL Potential

Sanders, a vocal advocate for his players, has made it clear he expects Travis Hunter to play on both sides of the ball in the NFL, just as he did in college. Sanders emphasized that teams should only draft Hunter if they plan to utilize his versatility, stating:

“Travis can absolutely play both sides of the ball in the NFL. If you’re not going to give him that opportunity, don’t draft him. You’d be making a mistake if your best receiver or cornerback is on the bench when you need them the most.”

While it remains to be seen how much influence Sanders can wield over NFL decisions, his advocacy for Hunter and Shedeur Sanders has been unwavering. Both players are projected as top-three picks in the draft, ensuring Deion Sanders remains a prominent figure in media coverage during t

he offseason.
