Martha Mataele, a talented Black Fern and wife of former Flying Fijian and Crusaders winger Manasa Mataele, has committed to a two-year contract with the Parramatta Eels, securing her spot in the team until the conclusion of 2026. Her move to the NRLW marks an exciting transition from rugby union to rugby league.
Known for her exceptional speed and agility, Mataele is expected to bring a new dynamic to the Eels’ backline. The club’s Football General Manager, Mark O’Neill, praised the signing, emphasizing the value Mataele’s attacking prowess will bring to the team. In 2023, she played for Matatū in the inaugural Super Rugby Aupiki season, where she contributed to her team’s championship win alongside her sister.
