Mike Tyson sued in UK for ditching promotion deal to fight Jake Paul

Mike Tyson is facing a lawsuit in a London court for approximately 1.5 million euros ($1.59 million). The case alleges that the former heavyweight boxing champion breached an agreement to promote a gambling company in favor of participating in a fight against social media influencer-turned-boxer Jake Paul.

The lawsuit has been brought by Medier, a Cyprus-based company that markets the online casino and betting platform Rabona. According to the legal claim, Tyson and his company, Tyrannic, signed a promotional agreement with Medier in January. However, the lawsuit alleges that Tyson abruptly ended the deal in March—the same day his fight with Paul was announced—on the grounds that Medier had violated their agreement.

Medier’s lawyers dispute this claim, arguing that their actions did not breach the contract. They allege that Tyson’s termination of the agreement was unjustified and caused the company financial losses totaling around 1.46 million euros. The legal documents further suggest that the real reason for Tyson’s termination was his involvement in a separate deal, backed by Netflix, to fight Jake Paul.

The case, filed in London’s High Court in October, has yet to see a formal defense from Tyson or his company, Tyrannic. Tyson has not commented on the matter at this time.

The fight between Jake Paul and Tyson, which took place in Texas last month and was streamed live on Netflix, ended with Paul securing a unanimous decision victory over the 58-year-old former champion. Despite significant anticipation, the event was criticized for failing to meet expectations.
