Simone Biles Snubbed While BFF Jordan Chiles and Others Make It to Ebony’s Top 100 List

In celebration of its 79th anniversary, Ebony magazine has released its list of 100 “Transformative Leaders” across various fields, including sports, entertainment, business, and culture. Among the distinguished Black figures honored, gymnast Jordan Chiles has secured a spot in the Leaders in Sports category. This recognition comes nearly 80 days after her standout performance at the Bercy Arena during the Paris Olympics. However, despite leading the U.S. women’s gymnastics team, Simone Biles was not included in Ebony’s annual Power 100 list, sparking curiosity about her absence after such a successful season. Whether this was an oversight or intentional remains unclear, but for Chiles, the achievement has brought immense joy.

On October 22, Chiles shared her excitement on X (formerly Twitter), expressing her gratitude to the magazine for the recognition. In her post, she said, “I’m grateful for this platform that is not only of the culture, but for the culture! Thank you, EBONY, for celebrating how WE show up and for truly moving Black forward.”

Chiles added how humbled she felt to be recognized alongside other remarkable individuals from the Black community. While the reasons behind Biles’s exclusion remain uncertain, Chiles’s recognition serves as a testament to her growing influence and achievements within the world of gymnastics and beyond.

The story is still evolving, with more details expected soon.
