He’s Done a Deal”: Rory McIlroy in a LIV Golf Promo Sends Fans Over the Edge; PGA Tour’s Favorite Son Makes Waves Before Faceoff

The highly anticipated golf showdown featuring PGA Tour pros Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy against LIV golfers Brooks Koepka and Bryson DeChambeau has been scheduled for November 17. LIV Golf has already released a promotional poster to boost the event’s visibility.

While Rory McIlroy is eager for the competition, he continues to express his disdain for the LIV Golf league. Interestingly, despite his vocal opposition to the breakaway league, McIlroy found himself featured on LIV Golf’s promotional poster, which was posted on their official X (formerly Twitter) account. His face appeared prominently alongside the other participants, just below the LIV Golf logo. This detail caught the attention of the Flushing It Golf Page, which zoomed in on the image and humorously remarked about McIlroy’s unexpected presence with the LIV logo above his head, captioning it, “How did I miss this? Rory with the LIV logo above his head and appearing on official LIV socials. What a world.”

The golf community reacted with amusement and surprise, with some speculating whether this could indicate McIlroy’s eventual shift to LIV Golf. This speculation draws from the league’s ability to lure high-profile players like Phil Mickelson and Brooks Koepka. While McIlroy, along with Tiger Woods and Jon Rahm, initially rejected LIV’s offers, Rahm made a surprising switch in 2023, reportedly driven by family considerations despite his earlier statements about prioritizing more than money.

Some fans believe McIlroy might follow Rahm’s path, leaving comments such as “Only a matter of time…” and “He’s done a deal.” There are also remarks suggesting that McIlroy might perform better in LIV Golf’s three-day competitions, with one fan joking, “Rory would kill it in LIV since it’s 3 days instead of 4.”

Others chimed in with opinions on McIlroy’s potential future in the team-oriented structure of LIV Golf. One comment suggested that McIlroy could thrive as a team captain, bringing together a group of his choosing under the LIV Golf banner.

Despite these rumors, many remain curious about whether McIlroy will reconsider his stance against LIV Golf, especially amidst delays in the proposed merger between the PGA and LIV. Fans and commentators alike are watching closely to see if McIlroy’s appearance on the LIV promotional material could signal a change in his position.
