“You don’t bloody say it, you fool” – Roy Keane slams Manchester United star for his comments after UEL draw with Twente

Manchester United legend Roy Keane criticized Christian Eriksen for his comments following a Europa League match last month. The Red Devils have had a difficult start to the season, including a 1-1 draw against FC Twente in their opening European fixture on September 25. Eriksen, who started the match and scored United’s only goal, expressed disappointment afterward, stating: “It’s disappointing. We wanted more in the end, but it wasn’t good enough. They looked like they wanted it more than us, and that can’t be right. That was said in the dressing room.”

Keane took issue with Eriksen’s comments, highlighting them as an example of the wrong attitude among players. Speaking on The Overlap, Keane remarked: “I even go back to the FC Twente game, and when the players came out after the match, it was Eriksen. Again, a really poor game. And when players come out and say, ‘I think they might have wanted it more than us,’ I kind of gave up at that stage.” He further added, “So he’s coming out after the game, I’m looking at him, even if you feel that, and that has happened where you thought they wanted it more than you, you don’t bloody say it, you fool, do you?”

Manchester United’s poor start to the Premier League season has compounded their struggles, with the team earning just eight points in their first seven matches, leaving them in 14th place.

Amid the team’s underwhelming performance, manager Erik ten Hag is under mounting pressure, with questions surrounding his future. There have been reports linking Gareth Southgate as a potential successor, although the former England manager, who stepped away from international football after Euro 2024, has stated that he won’t be coaching next year, needing time to make decisions. Former Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has also been mentioned as a candidate, following his departure from Bayern Munich after the 2023/24 season.
