NFL Insider Says Doug Pederson Lost Jaguars Locker Room’s Confidence, Starts the Clock on Jacksonville Future

The Jacksonville Jaguars are currently the only NFL team without a win this season, standing at 0-4. This dismal record suggests the atmosphere in the Jaguars’ locker room might be tense, with players likely feeling frustrated and lacking confidence.

NFL insider Jordan Schultz recently shared that head coach Doug Pederson may have “lost the locker room,” citing issues with player morale. Schultz discussed this on The Herd with Colin Cowherd podcast, explaining that while Jaguars owner Shad Khan is usually patient, the team’s current struggles—particularly with quarterback Trevor Lawrence—could signal impending changes.

The Jaguars have lost nine straight games with Lawrence at the helm, and if they lose their next game, that streak will extend to 10, which is a concerning trend for any NFL team. Schultz highlighted how the team is paying top players like Arik Armstead, Tyson Campbell, Josh Hines, and Lawrence, yet they continue to underperform.

He suggested that a 2-2 record would be more acceptable than their current 0-4 standing, especially as the team prepares for their next games in London. If the losses continue, Pederson’s position could be at risk.

However, Schultz doesn’t believe Pederson is on the hot seat just yet. Still, the players reportedly feel disconnected from their coach, especially after Pederson blamed them following their loss to the Texans.

Schultz noted that such public criticism can erode trust in today’s NFL, as maintaining respect in the locker room is critical, particularly in a team as large as an NFL squad.

Trevor Lawrence, however, has pushed back against the idea that Pederson has lost the locker room, drawing from his experience under former coach Urban Meyer. Lawrence dismissed the rumors, expressing full confidence in Pederson.

Pederson himself also denied losing the locker room, stating that the team continues to work hard and has the right leaders in place to turn things around. Despite the Jaguars’ winless start, Pederson remains hopeful, and the team looks to secure their first victory of the season in their upcoming game against the Colts.
