Cristiano Ronaldo hints at retirement

Football legend Cristiano Ronaldo has hinted that the end of his remarkable career may be approaching, acknowledging that he doesn’t have much time left on the field. At 39 years old, Ronaldo is considered one of the greatest footballers in history. He joined Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr in January 2023 after leaving Manchester United and has since continued to impress, scoring 64 goals and providing 17 assists in 71 matches.

Although discussions are underway regarding a contract renewal with Al-Nassr, Ronaldo has indicated that this could be his final deal, suggesting his retirement may be near. In a recent AFC Champions League match, Ronaldo led Al-Nassr to a 2-1 victory over Al Rayyan, scoring the decisive goal. This goal held personal significance for Ronaldo, as it fell on what would have been his late father’s 71st birthday. Ronaldo’s father passed away in 2005.

Despite having just one year remaining on his current contract, Ronaldo expressed contentment with his life in Saudi Arabia, stating that he is happy both with his club and the country. However, he also reflected on his impending retirement, emphasizing the joy of playing football over personal accolades. He noted that, while he still enjoys the game, he is aware that his time on the pitch is limited. For him, the most important thing is contributing to his club and national team, rather than focusing on being the best or winning individual awards.

Ronaldo, who was recently presented with a special “Greatest of All Time” jersey by Al-Nassr, spoke about his long history of breaking records and the pressure he has faced throughout his career. He expects to feel that pressure until the end of his playing days. While his eventual retirement will mark the close of a historic chapter in football, for now, Ronaldo continues to deliver high-level performances, leaving fans in awe of his abilities and commitment to the sport.
