Charles Barkley’s New Production Company’s Main Difference With LeBron James’ $1.2 Billion Enterprise Noted After Big Launch

Basketball stars have long expanded their influence beyond the court, with figures like Michael Jordan and Kevin Durant venturing into Hollywood. Recently, Charles Barkley has followed this trend by announcing the launch of his own production company, Round Mound Media. This move comes amidst the ongoing TNT contract dispute, which threatened the popular show Inside the NBA where Barkley serves as a host. Rather than pursuing a sports academy or community initiatives as some might have expected, Barkley has entered the media space to create original content, including documentaries and scripted shows.

 

Despite this bold new venture, Barkley faces stiff competition from established figures in the entertainment industry, most notably LeBron James and his $1.2 billion media empire, SpringHill Company. However, Barkley’s focus is different. While James’ company aims to produce movies and TV shows, Barkley’s media house is primarily focused on documentaries and live telecasts, with 10 projects already in development. One of these projects will feature a documentary on Barkley’s life.

 

Although both media houses dabble in podcasting, with SpringHill running the UNINTERRUPTED Podcast, Barkley’s media team is still in the process of naming theirs. This is where their common ground ends, as LeBron’s company is known for high-profile Hollywood productions like Space Jam: A New Legacy and Top Boy. Barkley, on the other hand, has positioned his company to produce content that aligns with his unique vision and storytelling style.

 

The competition between these two NBA legends in the media landscape highlights the diverse opportunities available for athletes transitioning into entertainment. They aren’t alone, though—other players like Dwyane Wade, Carmelo Anthony, Giannis Antetokounmpo, and Stephen Curry have also launched their own production companies, contributing to the growing influence of NBA stars in the media industry.
