Former Nebraska Volleyball Star Ally Batenhorst Receives Emotional Welcome on Her Return to Home Crowd in a New Role

Ally Batenhorst, who was a standout for the Nebraska Cornhuskers, has made a significant switch by transferring to USC for her final year of eligibility. After head coach Brad Keller announced her addition to the USC women’s volleyball team in February, she quickly became a key player. Leading the Trojans with 161 kills and 449 hitting attempts, she has clearly made an impact on the team’s performance.

Batenhorst’s return to the Bob Devaney Center, where she previously shone as a Husker, was an emotional moment. She received a standing ovation from the Nebraska crowd, which moved her to tears. Adding to the heartwarming atmosphere, her former teammates Lexi Rodriguez, Kennedi Orr, and Harper Murray presented her with the starting lineup ball, featuring handwritten messages from the entire Husker team.

Despite the reunion with her old team, Batenhorst couldn’t lead USC to victory against Nebraska. While she posted 13 kills and nine digs, the Huskers, led by Harper Murray and Merritt Beason, won the match in a 3-0 sweep, limiting USC to a season-low hitting percentage of .137.

During her time with Nebraska, Batenhorst was a vital part of the team, contributing to their NCAA runner-up finishes in 2021 and 2023. She accumulated 535 kills across her three seasons and also performed well in beach volleyball, posting a team-best 15 wins in 2023. Now, with Nebraska riding a nine-game winning streak, they are preparing to face Illinois in their upcoming Big Ten m
