Pros and cons of Buffalo Bills picking Arkansas football’s Landon Jackson in 2025 NFL Draft

The Buffalo Bills selected Arkansas defensive lineman Landon Jackson with the 72nd overall pick in the third round of the 2025 NFL Draft, held in Green Bay. Jackson had been projected as a potential pick anywhere from the first to third round and ultimately landed with the Bills after a strong college career.

Jackson is known for being one of the most complete defensive linemen in the SEC over the last two seasons. He’s a versatile, every-down player who excels against the run and can pressure quarterbacks. Standing at 6-foot-6 and weighing 264 pounds, he possesses the prototypical build for an NFL defensive end. His relentless energy and steady improvement over four college seasons suggest significant potential at the professional level.

At Arkansas, Jackson was a force in the run game, consistently setting the edge and helping to solidify the Razorbacks’ front line. While he showed flashes as a pass rusher—especially with effective inside moves—he wasn’t always consistent in converting pressures into sacks, recording 6.5 sacks in each of his last two seasons.

Despite that, Jackson had standout performances on big stages. In 2023, he recorded 3.5 sacks and 11 tackles in a narrow loss to Alabama. A year later, he disrupted Tennessee’s offense with six quarterback hurries in a major upset win.

Jackson’s senior year stats included 49 tackles, 9.5 tackles for loss, 6.5 sacks, a forced fumble, and a fumble recovery. His NFL projection is somewhat uncertain due to the gap between his physical attributes and production, but he draws comparisons to players like Emmanuel Ogbah of the Miami Dolphins—an excellent run defender who has shown the ability to produce sacks in the right system.

Buffalo gains a high-upside, high-motor defensive lineman who could develop into a key piece of their defensive front.
