Bryson DeChambeau called out by golf insider claiming he needs to “lock in” after embarrassing Masters fumble

Bryson DeChambeau remained in contention for the 2025 Masters Tournament title before slipping in the final round and finishing tied for fifth place (T5). During an episode of the Fore Play podcast, golf insider Frankie Borrelli reflected on DeChambeau’s performance, suggesting that the LIV Golf player needs to sharpen his focus if he wants to consistently win major championships.

DeChambeau, who has nine PGA Tour victories and three European Tour wins, claimed the Rocket Mortgage Classic in 2020 and the Arnold Palmer Invitational in 2021. He has also secured two major titles: the U.S. Open in both 2020 and 2024.

When addressing DeChambeau’s showing at Augusta, Borrelli questioned whether the golfer would reconsider his approach and adopt a more focused mindset. He pointed out that while DeChambeau has proven he can win majors, his lack of a Masters title could prompt a change in mental preparation. Drawing a comparison to Rory McIlroy, who has had several second-place finishes at the Masters, Borrelli emphasized that adjusting one’s mental game can be crucial in securing major victories.

Despite his criticism, Borrelli praised DeChambeau for being an influential figure in the sport and a major personality in the golf world, particularly through his popularity on YouTube and his engagement with a younger fanbase.

DeChambeau’s performance at the 2025 Masters began strong, with rounds of 69 and 68 putting him in a solid position. On the third day, he carded a 69, making six birdies and three bogeys, which placed him second on the leaderboard. However, in the final round, his form dipped. He made three birdies but struggled with four bogeys and a double bogey on the 11th hole, leading to a final-round score of 75.

Here’s a breakdown of his scorecards:

Round 3 Highlights:

Birdies on holes 1, 2, 4, 6, 16, and 18
