Jayden Bogle has started to thrive at Leeds United following his summer transfer from Sheffield United. Despite a challenging start, where he faced criticism for some subpar performances, including conceding a stoppage-time penalty against Portsmouth, Bogle has grown into his role. Regular playing time has helped him improve, and he is now an integral part of a defense aiming for its 10th clean sheet of the season in their upcoming match against Swansea City.
Bogle’s attacking contributions have made him a valuable asset to the team. From his right-back position, he has already scored two goals this season. While his departure upset his former manager, Chris Wilder, who criticized his move to Leeds, Wilder has acknowledged that Bogle’s replacement, Alfie Gilchrist, lacks the same attacking prowess.
In a recent podcast, Bogle shared his perspective on the differences between Leeds and the other clubs he has played for, Derby County and Sheffield United. He described Leeds as a bigger club, a statement that pleased Leeds supporters but likely didn’t sit well with fans of his former teams. This sentiment was evident during Sheffield United’s recent visit to Elland Road, where their away fans voiced their discontent toward Bogle, further straining the relationship.
Bogle explained in an interview that one key difference between Leeds and Sheffield United is the mindset. He noted a unified goal at Leeds to achieve promotion and win as many games as possible. He highlighted the winning mentality and the collective support from fans, players, and staff as defining characteristics of the club.
Despite his improvement and growing reputation, Bogle missed out on being included in the Championship Team of the Season (TOTS) so far, as Sunderland’s Trai Hume was chosen for the right-back spot. Hume has also been in excellent form and was previously linked with a move to Leeds. However, Bogle’s consistent defensive performances and attacking contributions could see him earn recognition by the end of the season if Leeds maintains its impressive form.
