Is There a Cut at the Valspar Championship 2025? Format Explored

Valspar Championship 2025: The Battle at Copperhead Begins

The 2025 PGA Tour season is rolling, and all eyes are now on the Valspar Championship, set to take place March 20–23 at the Copperhead Course at Innisbrook Resort in Palm Harbor, Florida. With 24 of the world’s top 50 golfers in the mix, the competition is expected to be intense.

But not every player will get a shot at the weekend. Like most PGA Tour events, the Valspar Championship has a cut—only the top 65 players and ties after 36 holes will advance to Saturday and Sunday’s rounds.

Why the Cut Matters

The cut isn’t just about trimming the field; it’s about keeping the weekend rounds competitive and ensuring TV coverage focuses on the top contenders. Copperhead’s layout, with its tight fairways, elevation changes, and the brutal ‘Snake Pit’ finish, ensures that simply making the cut is an achievement.

Last year’s champion, Peter Malnati, won at 12-under, but plenty of big names didn’t even make it to Saturday.

Key Storylines to Watch

1. Xander Schauffele’s Return

After recovering from a rib injury, Schauffele is making his return. But will he be able to shake off the rust, or will Copperhead’s ‘Snake Pit’ claim another victim?

2. Jordan Spieth’s Comeback

The 2015 champion is still finding his form after wrist surgery. Can he make another strong run here?

3. Justin Thomas and Tommy Fleetwood’s Momentum Play

With The Masters just weeks away, these two hope to use this tournament as a confidence booster heading into Augusta.
