The Gators delivered their highest-scoring performance of the season, defeating the Alabama Crimson Tide 104-82 to secure a spot in the SEC championship game.
Florida showcased a balanced offensive effort, with six players scoring in double digits. Walter Clayton Jr. led the team with 22 points, while Alijah Martin and Will Richard added 16 each.
In addition to their scoring, the Gators were dominant in the paint. Rueben Chinyelu recorded his fourth double-double of the season with 10 points and 10 rebounds in just 16 minutes, while Micah Handlogten grabbed 10 rebounds in 14 minutes. Walk-on Bennett Andersen rounded out the scoring with a late basket to cap off Florida’s impressive victory.
Tennessee faced a tough game against the Gators earlier this season, managing only 43 points, their lowest of the year. In their next matchup, Florida struggled, losing 64-44.
With this latest win, the Gators have a chance to face Tennessee again in the SEC Championship. After falling just short last season, Florida is eager to claim the title.
The matchup is set for Sunday at 1 p.m., airing live on ESPN.
