Defeating Simone Biles’ Ex-Coach, Oklahoma Sooners Close Out NCAA Gymnastics’ Regular Season on a High Note

Oklahoma Sooners Make History in Gymnastics with Record-Breaking Performance Against Georgia

The Oklahoma Sooners women’s gymnastics team wrapped up their regular season in spectacular fashion on March 14, 2025, with a dominant performance against the Georgia Bulldogs. This highly anticipated matchup not only marked the end of their season but also showcased a historic display from Oklahoma’s beam team, helping secure the highest team score of the entire regular season.

Beam Team Steals the Show

Oklahoma’s beam lineup was nothing short of extraordinary, contributing to a massive total score of 49.675 in the event, which played a crucial role in the Sooners’ overall 198.675—the highest score recorded by any team this season. The No. 1-ranked Sooners made a statement, with every athlete in the beam lineup delivering a 9.9 or higher.

Senior Audrey Davis set the tone with a 9.9, followed by Addison Fatta, who went even further with a 9.95. Freshman Lily Pederson added a solid 9.875 to keep the momentum going. Jordan Bowers, who had already impressed on vault and floor, matched Fatta’s 9.95 with another outstanding routine. Ava Siegfeldt delivered a 9.925, setting a new career high in just her second appearance on beam. Finally, Daniella Torrez closed out with an incredible 9.975, coming just shy of a perfect score.

Georgia Bulldogs Put Up a Fight

Despite Oklahoma’s historic performance, Georgia was far from an easy opponent. The Bulldogs finished with an impressive 197.975, marking the sixth-highest regular-season score in their program’s history. They also set season highs in all four events, including a 49.675 on floor, surpassing their previous best by 0.175. Several Georgia gymnasts, including Nyla Aquino, Ja’Free Scott, and Lily Smith, hit career highs, but their efforts weren’t enough to overcome the Sooners.

Sooners Secure a Share of the SEC Title

Oklahoma also dominated on vault, posting a season-high 49.625, giving them a 0.250 lead at the halfway point. Standout performances from Keira Wells and Lily Pederson (both scoring 9.95) and Addison Fatta, who recorded a 9.90, added to the Sooners’ success.

Fatta wasn’t done yet. Her 9.95 on beam marked another career high and helped her achieve a personal best all-around score of 39.650, establishing her as a crucial player in Oklahoma’s pursuit of a championship.

With this victory, Oklahoma secured at least a share of the SEC regular-season title, maintaining their spot at No. 1 in the conference standings. With a 7-1-0 record, they remain undefeated in competition, ensuring that while another team could tie them, they cannot be displaced from the top.

What’s Next for the Sooners?

With the SEC regular-season title secured, Oklahoma now turns its focus to the Big Ten Conference Championships and Nationals. The question remains: will they continue their dominance, or was this record-breaking performance a one-time feat?

What do you think? Have the Sooners set a new standard in college gymnastics, or is there still more to prove?
