PGA Tour Honors Tiger Woods’ 2002 Magic at THE PLAYERS Championship 2025
Though Tiger Woods won’t be teeing up at THE PLAYERS Championship 2025, the PGA Tour has made sure his presence is still felt—paying a remarkable tribute to one of the most iconic moments in golf history.

Woods’ legendary 2002 putt on the 18th hole at TPC Sawgrass remains one of the greatest strokes ever seen. Rolling across the green in dramatic fashion, the ball swung like a pendulum before sinking into the cup, securing a birdie and etching his name in golf history.
To honor Woods, the PGA Tour positioned the cup in the exact same spot as it was in 2002 and marked it with:
“Tiger Woods 3/25/2002”
“Better than most!” – Gary Koch
The gesture comes at a time when Woods is recovering from Achilles surgery, which forced him to decline an invitation to participate in this year’s tournament.
The Ultimate Tribute? Fans Get to Recreate the Magic
With the hole set in the same spot, players and attendees were given the chance to recreate Woods’ famous putt—and surprisingly, it wasn’t a PGA Tour pro who stole the show.
During the 2025 Creator Classic at TPC Sawgrass, YouTube personality Fat Perez (Nick Stubbe) from Bob Does Sports hit an eerily similar putt, nearly replicating the GOAT’s legendary moment.
The Legacy of Tiger’s 2002 Putt
The PGA Tour’s tribute has sparked debate among fans:
Was this the greatest putt in golf history?
Is the tribute fitting for Woods’ legendary career, or does he deserve even more recognition?
Regardless of the discussion, one thing is certain: Tiger Woods’ impact on golf is unmatched, and this tribute serves as a reminder of his enduring greatness.
What do you think? Does Tiger Woods’ 2002 putt still stand as the most iconic moment in golf?
