Charley Hull’s Sunningdale Foursomes Exit and Upcoming 2025 LPGA Challenges
The Sunningdale Foursomes brought an unexpected outcome as Charley Hull and her partner, Georgia Hall, were eliminated in the third round. Their campaign ended with a 4&3 defeat against professional golfers Tom Shadbolt and Ben Evans, cutting short their bid for the title.
Hull and Hall had been performing strongly, advancing past the first round with a narrow 1-up victory and then winning convincingly in the morning session. However, their momentum faltered on the Old Course, where Shadbolt and Evans proved to be too strong.
Following their loss, Hall acknowledged the physical toll of the competition, saying, “Playing 36 holes is actually not something we are used to anymore, and it can take a lot out of you.” Despite the early exit, both players showcased impressive performances leading up to their defeat.

Looking to bounce back from her Sunningdale disappointment, Charley Hull has set her sights on the 2025 FORD Championship. According to the official LPGA website, Hull has confirmed her participation in the event, which is scheduled to take place from March 27-30.
Hull will be eager to make a strong impression after her unfortunate withdrawal from the 2024 Ford Championship, where she had to pull out during the second round due to illness. At the time, she had opened with a level-par 72 and was playing 2-under through the first nine holes of her second round before her flu forced her to withdraw.
Charley Hull Joins the 2025 KPMG Women’s Irish Open
In addition to the Ford Championship, Hull is also preparing to compete in the 2025 KPMG Women’s Irish Open. The event, which will be held at Carton House, Fairmont, from July 3-6, will feature top talents in women’s golf, including Leona Maguire, Georgia Hall, Annabel Dimmock, Lottie Woad, Madelene Sagström, and 2026 Solheim Cup captain Anna Nordqvist.
Hull expressed her excitement about playing in Ireland for the first time since turning professional in 2013. “I’ve heard so many good things about the KPMG Women’s Irish Open, and I can’t wait to play. This will be my first professional event in Ireland since I turned pro, and it seems like the perfect event to mark this occasion.”
The tournament is set to be highly competitive, with Dimmock defending her title and Maguire aiming for a home-soil victory. Maguire has had a solid start to the 2025 season, including a 21st-place finish at the HSBC Women’s World Championship in Singapore.
