Brenden Aaronson hits back at £10m Leeds United star’s critics after his ‘unforgivable’ error

Brenden Aaronson and most of Leeds United’s squad have unpleasant memories of Loftus Road. The last time they played there, they suffered their worst defeat under Daniel Farke, falling 4-0 to Queens Park Rangers.

As Leeds prepare to return to QPR for Saturday’s early kick-off, they sit at the top of the Championship with a two-point lead. However, back-to-back away defeats, following their recent 1-0 loss at Portsmouth, could create tension in their promotion push.

In that match, Leeds were uncharacteristically wasteful, with Joel Piroe missing key chances, including one where he fired over the bar with the score still 0-0. Despite this, Aaronson has defended his teammate, stating that Piroe’s goal-scoring ability this season speaks for itself. Piroe has 15 goals and six assists in 27 Championship starts, making him a key figure in the squad.

Aaronson, on the other hand, has struggled for form, contributing just one goal in his last 12 league games. However, his performance in Leeds’ recent 2-0 win over Millwall was praised by Farke, who called it his best in weeks. With Leeds having won after every league defeat this season, Aaronson remains confident in their ability to bounce back once again.

QPR, meanwhile, are in poor form, having lost four straight matches and seven of their last nine. Despite this, they have recorded impressive wins over teams like Norwich and Watford and have taken points off strong sides such as Sheffield United, Burnley, and Sunderland.

Aaronson acknowledges that QPR has been a tough opponent this season but believes Leeds’ quality will shine through if they remain focused and play with full intensity. With several difficult fixtures ahead, he emphasizes the need for the team to maintain their momentum and continue performing well both at home and away.
