The Chicago Blackhawks have promoted defenseman Artyom Levshunov, marking a significant milestone in their ongoing rebuild. Levshunov, selected second overall in the 2024 NHL Draft, has been a focal point of the franchise’s future plans.

Levshunov’s Journey to the NHL

Levshunov’s path to the NHL has been marked by notable achievements:

Collegiate Success: In the 2023-24 season with Michigan State University, he recorded nine goals and 26 assists over 38 games, earning accolades such as Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year and Freshman of the Year.

Draft and Contract: His impressive performance led to his selection as the second overall pick by the Blackhawks in the 2024 NHL Draft. Shortly after, he signed a three-year, entry-level contract with the team.

Injury and Recovery: An offseason foot injury delayed his professional debut. After a recovery period, he was activated from injured reserve and assigned to the AHL’s Rockford IceHogs in October 2024 to regain game fitness.
