Fiji Men’s 7s gain key insights at Mataso Sevens

Fiji Men’s 7s coach, Osea Kolinisau, emphasized the importance of participating in the Mataso Sevens tournament as part of the team’s preparation for the upcoming Dubai 7s. He explained that competing in a local environment provided a valuable opportunity to assess the team’s strengths and pinpoint areas needing improvement.

The tournament featured two Fiji squads, with one emerging victorious while the Fiji White team exited in the semi-finals. Kolinisau expressed satisfaction with the players’ mental resilience, noting their ability to adapt despite facing challenges. “We learned a lot in this tournament,” he stated. “It was our first time playing together, and I’m pleased with how the boys handled themselves, especially under pressure.”

Kolinisau also highlighted the areas the team is focusing on as they gear up for Dubai, including discipline, consistency, defensive strategies, and improving their kick-offs.

The Fiji Men’s Sevens team left for Dubai yesterday, eager to build on the lessons learned from the Mataso Sevens as they prepare for their international campaign later this month.
