“Bears Make Bold Defensive Statement — Lock Down Star LB T.J. Edwards With $20M Extension!

Article:
The Chicago Bears continue to strengthen their defensive core, surprising fans and analysts alike by locking in standout linebacker T.J. Edwards with a fresh two-year, $20 million contract extension — $16.6 million of it guaranteed.

The Illinois native has been a game-changer since arriving in Chicago, starting all 34 games over the past two seasons. Edwards has racked up impressive numbers, including 155 tackles in 2023 and 129 more in 2024, along with 6.5 sacks, 20 tackles for loss, and four interceptions.

This deal keeps Edwards in a Bears jersey through the 2027 season and signals the team’s commitment to maintaining a rock-solid defense. The extension comes just days after the Bears locked down cornerback Kyler Gordon with a lucrative three-year, $40 million contract — making him the NFL’s highest-paid slot corner.

General Manager Ryan Poles is clearly focused on building a championship-worthy defense as Chicago gears up for the upcoming NFL Draft.
