With the 2025 NFL Draft just around the corner, predictions and mock drafts are flooding in—especially regarding who the Dallas Cowboys might select. Much of the speculation has focused on two key areas: wide receiver and running back.
Early mock drafts had linked the Cowboys to Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty, a standout player who finished as the runner-up for the Heisman Trophy. However, Jeanty’s stock has continued to rise, and many analysts now expect him to be chosen within the top 10 picks. Despite this shift, a recent mock draft powered by Elon Musk’s artificial intelligence tool, Grok, still places Jeanty with the Cowboys at pick No. 12.
According to the mock draft, Grok identifies running back as Dallas’ most urgent need. It even described the team’s 2024 offensive performance as lackluster. Based on that assessment, the AI suggested Jeanty as a top solution to help revitalize the Cowboys’ offense.
While it may be unrealistic for Jeanty to still be available by the 12th pick, the scenario would be ideal for Dallas. The opportunity to secure a player widely seen as one of the top three overall talents in the draft would likely outweigh other positional needs.
Jeanty has drawn widespread praise for his abilities and is considered a rare talent at his position. His addition would address a glaring weakness in the Cowboys’ lineup.
In his most recent college season, Jeanty delivered an outstanding performance, rushing for 2,601 yards and scoring 29 touchdowns, with an average of 7.0 yards per carry. Over the course of his college career, he has amassed 4,769 rushing yards and 50 rushing touchdowns, along with 862 receiving yards and six touchdown catches.
The 2025 NFL Draft is set to take place in Green Bay, Wisconsin. The first round kicks off on Thursday, April 24, followed by Rounds 2 and 3 on Friday, and the remaining rounds on Saturday, April 26.
