Patrick Mahomes Clears Stance on Future Outside of NFL as Chiefs QB Aggressively Attacks Off-Season

Patrick Mahomes, the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback, seems to be increasingly blending his love for golf into his public persona. During the NFL offseason, he’s often seen playing in celebrity golf tournaments and casually working on his swing. Fans will remember “The Match,” where Mahomes and teammate Travis Kelce defeated NBA stars Steph Curry and Klay Thompson—a performance that turned heads and sparked curiosity about whether golf could be more than just a pastime for the Super Bowl champion.

Recently, that speculation intensified when Mahomes teamed up with Adidas to release a new line of footwear, coinciding with the lead-up to the 2025 Masters Tournament. The shoes, dubbed the Mahomes 2 Impact FLX, aren’t actually made for the golf course but are perfect for turf training—ideal for players practicing their game off-course. The collaboration stirred buzz among sneaker enthusiasts and golf fans alike. Sneaker News even posted about the release with a cheeky question: “Does Pat Mahomes have a future in golf after he retires from the NFL?”

While Mahomes hasn’t publicly commented on his long-term golf plans, his actions—like resharing Adidas CEO Bjørn Gulden’s Instagram story tagging both Mahomes and Adidas Golf—keep the speculation alive. The quiet yet deliberate moves suggest that even if Mahomes isn’t ready to confirm anything, golf might be more than just a relaxing hobby.

The timing is also interesting. The Chiefs are coming off a difficult loss in the Super Bowl to the Eagles. After a near-flawless regular season and playoff run, they missed out on the chance to secure an unprecedented three-peat. Since then, Mahomes has been hard at work preparing for redemption in the 2025 NFL season, sharing training footage on social media as early as March.

One of those videos featured tight end Robert Tonyan, who signed with the Chiefs in December. The clip, captioned “Back at it ⏰,” showed Mahomes working on plays with Tonyan, sparking conversation about the team’s tight end depth. Tonyan currently ranks behind veteran Travis Kelce and Noah Gray. But with Kelce posting career-low numbers last season—despite confirming he’ll return—there are whispers about a potential shift in the pecking order.

So while Mahomes is getting back into NFL form, he continues to keep golf close—whether it’s through high-profile tournaments, stylish footwear, or silent nods through social media. Fans and analysts alike are wondering: Is golf in Mahomes’ future once he hangs up the cleats? For now, it remains a mystery—but one that feels like it’s gradually unfolding.
