Andy Reid Gets Big Injury Update From DE After Suspension as Patrick Mahomes Announces New Start With 3-Words

The Kansas City Chiefs’ defense isn’t getting the recognition it deserves. While the spotlight often shines on Patrick Mahomes’ meme-worthy moments or Travis Kelce’s sideline reactions, the defense has been quietly dominating. Ranked ninth in total defense, the Chiefs have consistently stifled opposing offenses. And now, the team isn’t settling—they’re building an even stronger defensive unit this offseason.

The Chiefs have been busy. They re-signed linebacker Nick Bolton to a three-year, $45 million deal and brought back defensive tackle Mike Pennel on a one-year contract. Their additions didn’t stop there. They signed cornerback Kristian Fulton from the Chargers with a two-year, $20 million deal. Then came defensive end Janarius Robinson, picked up on a one-year deal, along with veteran safety Mike Edwards, both officially signing their contracts on Wednesday.

Robinson, while speaking to the media, expressed gratitude to the Chiefs organization for the opportunity. He emphasized his readiness to work hard and show his full potential, aiming to prove his value to the team.

Robinson’s journey to Kansas City has been anything but smooth. Drafted by the Vikings in 2021, he missed his entire rookie season due to injury. The following year with the Eagles, he again landed on injured reserve. After bouncing around, including a stint on the Raiders’ practice squad in 2023, he now joins the Chiefs, hoping for a fresh start.

His career has been affected not only by injuries but also off-field issues. In 2024, Robinson faced a three-game suspension for violating the NFL’s substance abuse policy. That season, he played in just 10 games, starting only once, and recorded five tackles and half a sack. Despite these challenges, he insists he’s fully healthy now and ready to contribute in Kansas City.

Meanwhile, quarterback Patrick Mahomes is back in training mode, prepping for the 2025 season. After a disappointing Super Bowl LIX where the Chiefs were defeated 40-22 by the Eagles, Mahomes is determined to rebound. His Super Bowl performance was far from his best—throwing two interceptions, fumbling once, and taking six sacks.

Recently, Mahomes posted a clip of himself throwing passes on social media, captioning it “Back at it ⏰,” signaling the start of his comeback journey. Before this, he spent time with his family on a vacation to Disney’s Hollywood Studios. His wife, Brittany, shared pictures from the trip with their kids—Sterling, age 4, and Bronze, age 2.

Now, the vacation’s over, and it’s back to business for Mahomes, who’s aiming to reclaim his MVP-level play and lead the Chiefs to another championship run in 2025.
