Scottie Scheffler Eyes a Third Green Jacket at the 2025 Masters
Scottie Scheffler is on the brink of making golf history as he chases a third Masters title. Already a two-time champion, Scheffler claimed his first green jacket in 2022 with a score of 10-under-par (278), and followed up with an 11-under (277) victory in 2024, finishing four strokes ahead of Ludvig Åberg. Now, with the 2025 Masters set for April 10–13, he’ll return to Augusta National aiming for a rare three-peat.

The Masters is played over four rounds of 18 holes in a 72-hole stroke play format. It’s not just about beating the other golfers—players must also conquer one of the most challenging courses in the world. With each round, pressure mounts, especially by the end of round two when the cut is enforced. Since 2020, only the top 50 players and ties after the first 36 holes are allowed to continue, making every shot count.
Augusta National, the tournament’s legendary setting, remains one of golf’s most iconic courses. Stretching 7,555 yards as a par 72, it demands accuracy, power, and mental toughness. A small adjustment was made recently to the par-5 second hole, where the tee box was moved back 10 yards and shifted left. Also, due to Hurricane Helene, a few trees were lost, subtly altering the course’s look.
Since its debut in 1934, the Masters has been steeped in tradition. Horton Smith was the tournament’s first winner, finishing with a score of 284, four under par. Nearly nine decades later, the Masters is still a highlight on the golf calendar, showcasing the world’s best talent each spring.
Now, with a limited field of just 89 players, the stage is set for a dramatic showdown. As anticipation builds, fans are left wondering: can Scottie Scheffler make history with a third consecutive win, or will Augusta National prove too much for even him?
