Jalen Milroe’s Draft Hopes Rise After NFL Combine Performance
At the NFL Combine, with scouts and executives watching closely, Jalen Milroe didn’t shy away from being labeled underrated. Instead, he embraced it. Speaking confidently, he highlighted how playing in the SEC—the toughest college football conference—helped build his resilience. One memorable moment stood out: when asked how long it would take him to improve, Milroe replied, “How much time do you have?” The response reflected both his confidence and commitment.
Milroe, the winner of the prestigious William V. Campbell Trophy, left a strong impression during his time at Alabama. Over four seasons, he played 38 games (starting 27), completing 426 out of 663 passes for a 64.3% completion rate. He threw for 6,016 yards and 45 touchdowns, while also rushing 375 times for 1,577 yards and 33 touchdowns—a clear sign of his dual-threat abilities.
Now, the 22-year-old quarterback has accepted an invitation to attend the 2025 NFL Draft, scheduled to take place from April 24–26 at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wisconsin. The Packers, this year’s draft hosts, have had injury concerns regarding their starting QB, Jordan Love, making it plausible that they might at least entertain conversations with Milroe. For fans, the idea carries extra weight.
Milroe’s college achievements back up his growing reputation. He ranks 7th in passing yards and 8th in touchdowns in Alabama history and is among only nine QBs from the program to finish with over a 60% pass completion rate.
Although many teams are showing interest, it’s unlikely the Packers would take him early. Coach Matt LaFleur recently gave a vote of confidence to Jordan Love, noting that Love never made excuses—even after suffering an MCL sprain in the season opener. Despite that injury, Love played 15 games, led the team to the playoffs, and posted solid numbers: 268 completions out of 425 attempts (63.1% completion rate), with 3,389 passing yards, 25 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions. Love didn’t require surgery after the season, and his durability impressed both fans and teammates, including RB Josh Jacobs.
Still, conversations with Milroe might happen. It’s common for teams to explore all their options. One team that may pursue him more aggressively is the Pittsburgh Steelers, where Head Coach Mike Tomlin is in urgent need of a franchise quarterback.
As the 2025 draft approaches, the quarterback landscape is shifting. What once seemed like a two-player race has opened up, thanks to strong showings from QBs like Jaxson Dart and now Milroe. Fans and analysts alike are debating who the top picks will be—and whether Milroe is a future star or just a temporary headline.
