Scottie Scheffler is proving once again why he’s the World No. 1, delivering a dominant performance at the Texas Children’s Houston Open. His bogey-free 8-under 62 at Memorial Park not only tied the course record but also sent a clear message to the rest of the PGA Tour—he’s back in top form.
Despite struggling with his putter earlier this season, Scheffler was lights out on Friday, sinking 112 feet of putts and ranking second in strokes gained putting. His round featured a string of impressive birdies, including a 26-footer on the par-3 11th and a 29-footer on the par-3 2nd, proving that when his putter gets hot, he’s nearly unbeatable.
Scheffler now sits atop the leaderboard at 11-under, well-positioned to capture his first win of the 2025 PGA Tour season. Given his dominance in 2024—winning seven PGA Tour events, the FedEx Cup, the Olympics, and a Green Jacket—his resurgence is a nightmare for the competition.
If he keeps rolling in putts like he did Friday, the rest of the field may already be playing for second place.
