Tottenham’s Dismal 2024/25 Season
The 2024/25 campaign has been nothing short of disastrous for Tottenham Hotspur. Currently languishing in 14th place in the Premier League, Spurs have lost 15 of their 29 league matches. Their struggles extend beyond domestic competition, as they also suffered an early exit from the FA Cup.
Despite their disappointing league form, Tottenham still have a lifeline to qualify for next season’s UEFA Champions League—winning the UEFA Europa League. However, failure to secure European football could result in the departure of one of their key players, Dejan Kulusevski.
Dejan Kulusevski’s Future Hinges on Spurs’ European Qualification
According to reports from Calciomercato, the Swedish international could return to Serie A if Tottenham fail to secure a European spot for next season. AC Milan and Napoli have emerged as potential destinations for the 24-year-old, with Fabio Paratici—a key figure in Kulusevski’s initial move to Spurs—being linked to a Director of Football role at Milan.
Should Tottenham miss out on European football, it is believed the club will demand no less than €50m (£41.8m) for the winger, who was signed permanently for £25m.
Kulusevski has been one of Spurs’ standout performers this season, tallying ten goals and ten assists in 42 appearances. Former goalkeeper Ben Foster has even labeled him as Tottenham’s best player of the campaign.
Signs of Discontent with Tottenham’s Ownership
There are indications that Kulusevski may already be growing frustrated with Tottenham’s management. The winger has previously hinted at dissatisfaction with the club’s hierarchy, particularly ENIC and chairman Daniel Levy.
Speaking about the team’s struggles earlier this season, Kulusevski stated: “You can look at the manager, you can look at the players, but it’s bigger than that.” This remark suggests frustration with the broader issues affecting the club beyond just performances on the pitch.
Although Kulusevski is under contract until 2028, his future at Spurs appears uncertain. If Tottenham fail to secure Europa League glory, they could face a major battle to retain one of their most valuable assets.
