Man Utd has two alternatives in place and plans to “sell Andre Onana to Saudis

Andre Onana is reportedly set to leave Manchester United and move to the Saudi Pro League at the end of the 2024/25 season. After joining United from Inter Milan for £47 million in 2023 to replace David de Gea, Onana has shown flashes of quality but has struggled with consistency in key areas like shot-stopping and distribution. These issues have reportedly led to United deciding to cash in on the 28-year-old goalkeeper, with Ruben Amorim, the manager at Old Trafford, already looking at potential replacements.

As part of the plan, Manchester United is reportedly eyeing two highly-rated young goalkeepers: Senne Lammens of Royal Antwerp and Lucas Chevalier of Lille. Both keepers have impressed this season, with Lammens being praised for his distribution and involvement in build-up play—traits that Amorim values highly. Lammens, at just 22 years old, has earned a first call-up to the Belgian national team and is expected to be available for around £30 million.

Lille’s Chevalier, 23, has also been in fine form and is expected to be priced at around £40 million. Both goalkeepers have garnered interest from other Premier League clubs, including Newcastle United and West Ham United, but Manchester City is also said to be keeping an eye on Lammens, with Ederson reportedly considering a move to the Saudi Pro League as well.

With Onana’s potential exit, it seems that both Manchester United and City may be involved in a battle for these emerging goalkeeping talents, which could see significant movement in the summer transfer window.
