Singapore Classic: DP World Tour event first round washed out due to monsoon conditions

Singapore Classic Delayed Due to Heavy Rainfall

The Singapore Classic faced a complete washout on Thursday as monsoon conditions forced officials to delay the tournament’s start by a full day. The DP World Tour event, held at Laguna National Golf Resort Club, was initially scheduled to begin at midday local time, but worsening weather led to a postponement until Friday.

Organizers confirmed that the tournament will follow its original schedule, with the second round now set for Saturday. However, with rain expected throughout the weekend, further disruptions remain a possibility.

Among the key players in the field are Scotland’s Robert MacIntyre and Tom McKibbin, who recently joined LIV Golf. McKibbin, previously seen as a rising star and a potential successor to Rory McIlroy, faces suspension from the PGA Tour due to his move but remains eligible for the DP World Tour and European Ryder Cup qualification.

The first round of the Singapore Classic is set to begin on Friday at 5 AM (UK time), with live coverage available on Sky Sports Golf.
