Rory McIlroy Adds New Event To Pre-Masters Schedule

Rory McIlroy, fresh off his victory at The Players Championship, has officially added the Texas Children’s Houston Open to his schedule as preparation for the upcoming Masters Tournament. This event, set for March 27-30 at Memorial Park Golf Course, will mark McIlroy’s first appearance in the Houston Open since 2014.

McIlroy’s decision to participate stems from his desire to maintain competitive momentum leading into Augusta National. He expressed that a three-week gap before the Masters felt too long, stating, “I think three weeks going in, it’s a little too much, so I’ll play one of the events in Texas, whether it’s Houston or San Antonio.”

The Houston Open boasts a competitive field, including World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler, Wyndham Clark, Rickie Fowler, and Jason Day. McIlroy’s participation adds further prestige to the tournament, especially as he seeks to capture his third title of the year.

This strategic addition to his schedule underscores McIlroy’s commitment to fine-tuning his game ahead of the Masters, where he aims to complete the career Grand Slam. His recent performances, including the playoff victory at TPC Sawgrass, highlight his strong form this season.
