Kolinisau urges new 7s inclusions to speak up

Fiji’s 7s rugby coach is focusing heavily on communication and team cohesion as he develops his squad. He is particularly encouraging new players to be more vocal and involved, ensuring they do not hesitate to express themselves on the field. His goal is to foster an environment where every player feels empowered to contribute and challenge their teammates constructively.

He believes that shyness can be a barrier to growth and could affect the overall performance of the team. To counter this, he is working to instill confidence in the newer players, urging them to break out of their shells and engage more actively during games. He wants them to understand that their role is not just to follow what is happening but to speak up when needed.

The coach emphasizes that even if a senior player makes a mistake, a younger or newer teammate should feel comfortable pointing it out. He has made it clear that hierarchy should not prevent players from communicating openly and holding each other accountable.

According to him, strong communication is a key factor in a team’s success, particularly in high-pressure situations where quick decision-making is essential.

The team is preparing for the upcoming HSBC Hong Kong 7s tournament, which will take place from next Friday to Saturday.
