Arsenal set to open new contract talks with Saka

Arsenal Set to Begin Contract Talks with Bukayo Saka Amid Long-Term Planning

Arsenal is preparing to enter formal negotiations with Bukayo Saka regarding a new contract as the forward approaches the final two years of his current deal.

Saka has been sidelined since December due to a serious hamstring tear suffered in Arsenal’s victory over Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park, an injury that ultimately required surgery. Despite his absence, the club remains fully committed to securing his future, recognizing his importance to Mikel Arteta’s team.

With his current contract set to expire at the end of the 2026-27 season, Arsenal aims to eliminate any uncertainty and is prioritizing a long-term agreement. The 23-year-old England international, who signed his current deal in 2022—reportedly worth at least £10 million per season—is seen as a cornerstone of the club’s future.

While talks are still in the early stages, Arsenal is expected to accelerate negotiations soon. The situation will likely attract interest from clubs across Europe, given Saka’s reputation as one of the continent’s top attacking talents. Before he signed his existing contract, Manchester City had shown interest in him, and other elite clubs will monitor developments closely.

However, Arsenal remains optimistic about reaching an agreement, given their emergence as serious title contenders under Arteta. Their consistent presence in the Champions League could also be a key factor in convincing Saka to extend his stay.

For now, Saka is focused on his recovery following surgery, with manager Mikel Arteta suggesting after Arsenal’s recent victory over Chelsea that the winger has a strong chance of returning soon after the current international break. Arsenal’s next match is against Fulham at the Emirates Stadium on April 1.

Contract Situations of Other Key Arsenal Players

Saka is not the only Arsenal player with a contract situation requiring attention. Several key members of Arteta’s squad are also nearing the final stages of their current deals.

Thomas Partey and Jorginho: Both midfielders are out of contract at the end of the current season and, as things stand, are expected to leave the club this summer.

Leandro Trossard: The Belgian winger, whose contract expires in the summer of 2026, has already engaged in preliminary talks over a possible extension.

William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhães: Like Saka, both defenders have contracts running until 2027. Saliba recently stated that formal discussions over a new deal have yet to begin but expressed his happiness at Arsenal, saying, “I’m really happy here and I want to continue here.”

Gabriel Magalhães: The Brazilian has also held talks over an extension, though he has drawn interest from clubs in Saudi Arabia.

As Arsenal continues to build towards long-term success, securing Saka’s future will be a crucial step in ensuring stability and competitiveness at the highest level.
