Miami Dolphins hire ‘senior personnel executive’ to assist with scouting

The Miami Dolphins have made an addition to their front office by hiring a new senior personnel executive. On Friday, the team brought in Champ Kelly, who previously served as the assistant general manager for the Las Vegas Raiders. Kelly will now be assisting the Dolphins in their scouting and personnel evaluation efforts.

This move comes as part of the Dolphins’ continued efforts to strengthen their management and scouting team. By adding an experienced executive like Kelly, Miami aims to enhance its ability to identify and acquire talent, particularly with the NFL Draft and free agency periods being critical times for roster building.

The hiring of Kelly follows other recent roster decisions by the Dolphins. The team recently re-signed defensive contributors Elijah Campbell and Quinton Bell while also securing linebacker Tyrel Dodson ahead of free agency. Additionally, Miami’s general manager Chris Grier and head coach Mike McDaniel attended Georgia’s Pro Day, likely scouting potential draft prospects.

The Dolphins were also awarded four compensatory picks for the 2025 NFL Draft, further strengthening their ability to add depth to their roster. However, despite their active presence in the offseason, Miami missed out on signing star pass rusher Joey Bosa, who landed with another AFC East team.

As the offseason progresses, the Dolphins continue making key decisions to refine their roster and front office structure, aiming to remain competitive in the highly competitive AFC East.
