Texas A&M Aggies’ Shemar Stewart Stays Close in New Mock Draft

Texas A&M edge rusher Shemar Stewart has seen his draft stock rise significantly following an impressive showing at the NFL Scouting Combine. Initially projected as a mid-to-late first-round pick, Stewart is now widely expected to be selected in the top half of the first round.

If he does go that early, he may not have to travel far to begin his professional career. In a newly released mock draft, the Dallas Cowboys are predicted to select Stewart with the 12th overall pick, keeping him in Texas.

Stewart, who measured at 6-foot-5 and 267 pounds, could be a key addition to the Cowboys’ defensive front. Dallas is in need of an edge rusher after longtime defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence, a four-time Pro Bowler, signed with the Seattle Seahawks. While Stewart’s college production was modest—recording just 4.5 sacks over three seasons at Texas A&M—his athleticism and potential make him an intriguing prospect. If developed correctly, he could become a strong pass-rushing partner for Micah Parsons and eventually replace Lawrence.

The Cowboys have a solid track record when it comes to first-round draft picks, having successfully selected key players such as Parsons, wide receiver CeeDee Lamb, and recently retired guard Zach Martin. Although Stewart may not make an immediate impact, his long-term potential is appealing.

The 2025 NFL Draft is set to take place from April 24-26 in Green Bay, Wisconsin, where Stewart and other top prospects will find out their professional destinations.
