Fiji women fall short against Samoa

Samoa Women started their Pacific-France T20i Women’s Cricket Championship campaign with a commanding 41-run victory over Fiji Women in New Caledonia.

Batting first, Samoa Women posted a solid total of 127/2 in their 20 overs. The star of the innings was Taalili Losefo, who played a brilliant knock of 60 runs off 48 balls, hitting six fours. She received valuable support from Ailaoa Felicia Aoina, who contributed 21 runs. Their crucial 51-run partnership for the third wicket helped Samoa build a strong foundation.

Chasing 128, Fiji Women struggled to maintain the required run rate and could only manage 86/6 in their allotted overs. Melai Biu was their top scorer with 24 runs, while Sulia Vuni added 12. However, their efforts weren’t enough to challenge Samoa’s total, resulting in a 41-run defeat.

Fiji will look to bounce back when they face Vanuatu tomorrow at 1:30 pm.
