Four-Star WR Jerquaden Guilford Decommits from Penn State
Penn State football suffered a recruiting setback as four-star wide receiver Jerquaden Guilford announced his decommitment from the Nittany Lions’ 2026 class. The 6-foot-2, 170-pound receiver originally committed in early December, but just under three months later, he’s reopening his recruitment.
Guilford shared the news on X Friday evening, stating:
“After intense discussions with my family, I have decided to decommit from Penn State and reopen my recruitment. This was not an easy decision, and I have so much respect and love for Coach Franklin, Coach Hagans, and the entire Penn State staff for accepting me and believing in me.”
He added that with the ever-changing recruiting landscape, he wants to thoroughly evaluate his options and find the best fit for his future.
Guilford’s departure leaves Penn State with just two wide receiver commits in the 2026 class — Jahsiear Rogers (Middletown, DE) and Laver Keys (DeMatha Catholic, MD) — and eight total commitments.
Since his initial commitment, Guilford has attracted offers from Michigan, Vanderbilt, Kentucky, Purdue, and Kansas, adding to earlier offers from Miami, Ohio State, Tennessee, West Virginia, and Wisconsin.
As a junior at Northrop High School (IN), Guilford posted 35 receptions for 556 yards and three touchdowns.
