Quinn Ewers Gets His Shot at the NFL — But Can He Rise?
After battling through injury-filled seasons at Texas, Quinn Ewers is finally getting his chance to prove himself at the pro level. But that dream of being a top draft pick? That’s likely out of reach. Once a 5-star phenom, Ewers’ draft stock has been a wild ride — and not in a good way.
Quinn Ewers has reportedly been receiving “significant interest” from several people within the Titans and Colts organizations.

Ewers’ struggles, especially a lingering oblique injury from last season, hurt his reputation among scouts. Missing the Senior Bowl only made things worse, leaving him projected as a Day 2 or even Day 3 pick (Rounds 4-7). But there’s a twist — the Tennessee Titans, who own the first overall pick, are reportedly showing real interest in the Texas QB.
Is Ewers a Hidden Gem?
That oblique injury, which began in Texas’ Week 2 win over Michigan, worsened throughout the season. NFL insider Tom Pelissero confirmed Ewers is now fully recovered and up to 215 pounds — healthy just in time for draft season. And both the Titans and Colts (who hold early second-round picks) are reportedly intrigued by Ewers’ potential, viewing him as a high-upside project quarterback.
Field Yates, speaking on The Pat McAfee Show, offered some hope. While Ewers doesn’t have elite arm strength, his mechanics, frame, and natural leadership make him an interesting prospect. Yates currently projects Ewers as a third-round pick, but how he performs in interviews and medical evaluations could shift that.
The Steelers Factor
Ewers’ name is also being tied to the Pittsburgh Steelers, who reportedly held a formal Combine interview with him. Pittsburgh might be eyeing him as a future option, especially since they’re unlikely to land a top-tier QB in the draft. ESPN’s Matt Miller ranks Ewers as the No. 4 QB prospect, behind Cam Ward, Shedeur Sanders, and Jaxson Dart — but Ewers doesn’t even crack the top 50 overall prospects.
Steelers scouts reportedly like Ewers’ quick release, anticipation, and veteran-like poise. However, they’re also concerned about his downfield accuracy and tendency to take bad sacks. If the Steelers bring back Russell Wilson or Justin Fields, Ewers could be a developmental option — learning from a veteran until he’s ready to take over.
What’s Next?
Whether Ewers lands with the Titans, Colts, or Steelers, his path to NFL success will depend heavily on the system around him and how much time he gets to develop. For now, he’s healthy, confident, and hoping to rewrite his draft narrative — one step at a time.
