Jamie Carragher thinks Nottingham Forest star is now better than £60m Liverpool player

Jamie Carragher has faced some lighthearted criticism from Nottingham Forest fans after his preseason prediction that the club would be relegated. Back in August, he suggested that if a team flirts with danger long enough, it will eventually go down. However, Forest has defied expectations this season, currently sitting third in the Premier League under the guidance of Nuno Espirito Santo.

Carragher has since acknowledged the team’s impressive performances and has particularly praised Morgan Gibbs-White. Despite being a strong supporter of Liverpool, he has suggested that Gibbs-White may even be better than Liverpool’s £60 million signing, Dominic Szoboszlai.

Speaking on The Overlap US: It’s Called Soccer podcast, Carragher shared his admiration for Gibbs-White, stating that he has followed his progress for 18 months and believes he has the qualities to play for a top club. He highlighted the midfielder’s speed, energy, goal-scoring ability, and creativity, predicting that he could earn a move in the future. He also mentioned that Gibbs-White should be on Thomas Tuchel’s radar for the England squad, though competition for places is fierce.

So far this season, Gibbs-White has played 20 matches, scoring five goals and providing four assists while making 33 key passes. With 14 games left, Forest is pushing for European football, keeping their Champions League hopes alive. Despite officially being the vice-captain, his influence on the team makes him arguably their most important player.
